No need to check your ears for tuning

Is there a word for a music obsessive, just like foodie exists for gourmet food obsessives? Well, if there is one, I’d use it to describe me!
Creativity in music… just like in all other topics…deserves significant respect. Even if the music is not necessarily, shall I say, highbrow.Take “Richard Cheese” for instance. He has taken today’s top hip hop and pop songs as well as some classics from yesterday and recreated them in very cheesy lounge music.
Some of my favourite remakes (and their original bands) include :
- Insane in the Membrane (Cypress Hill)
- Gin & Juice (Snoop Dogg)
- Yello (ColdPlay)
- Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode)
- Beat it (Michael Jackson)
- Girls Girls Girls (Motley Crue)
- Closer (Nine Inch Nails)
Though his tone is often crude, he certainly adds his unique highly entertaining style and goes well beyond subtle tongue in cheek humour. Impressively, he was also succesful in gain approval by all of the original artists to publish his twisted versions of their songs.
Even his album titles such as Lounge Against the Machine (Rage Against the Machine), I’d Like a Virgin (Madonna’s Like a Virgin), Aperitif for Destruction (Guns ‘N Roses’ Appetite for Destruction) and Sunny Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon) and mirroring cover designs show how far he is willing to with his creative sense of wit.
